Change the timezone of your server

Last Updated: Feb 05, 2013 04:21PM MST
By default all servers are set to GMT.
However, if you'd like to change this to UTC or a specific timezone, try this:

Access your server using the Supevisor account (or the Admin Terminal feature).

From the command line run:

sudo ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/UTC /etc/localtime

(you'll be prompted for your supervisor password)

Now your server is set to UTC.

Your system's time zone is determined by the symbolic link /etc/localtime. This link points to a time zone data file that describes the local time zone. The time zone data files are located at /usr/share/zoneinfo.

If you'd like to set your server to EST .. you would run:

sudo ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern /etc/localtime
Now your server is set to EST.

To confirm the current timezone settings of your server run:
date

You should see something like:  (confirming the EST setting)
