Alternative PHP Cache (APC)

Last Updated: Feb 06, 2013 02:02PM MST
The Alternative PHP Cache (APC) is a free and open opcode cache for PHP. Its goal is to provide a free, open, and robust framework for caching and optimizing PHP intermediate code.

By default all new servers come preloaded with APC, memcached, and Varnish.  All new Content Management Systems (CMS) will automatically have APC configured and enabled.

To verify if APC is running on your server, follow these steps to create a phpinfo.php file that will display all of the PHP information about your server.

For more information regarding APC, please visit the official manual page.
