Multi-tier application hosting is here!
Standing Cloud is pleased to announce that we now provide multi-tier application hosting on many of our Cloud providers.
What does this mean to you.. the user?
Standing Cloud is now able to provide load balancing to your servers and applications, offering the ability to distribute the resources allotted to you. Additionally, by distributing the load on your servers and applications we are able to reduce the number of failure points... adding another layer of up-time and security to your hosted applications.
Currently multi-tier hosting is only supported on 64-bit servers … which means it is NOT available on Amazon and Linode at this time.

Important points to understand prior to installing a multi-tier environment:
- Test Drives are not available for multi-tier, only Hosted Applications.
- Multi-tier hosted applications can’t be installed to an existing server.
- Some of the standard single-tier functionality is not available in multi-tier (i.e. Preview Restore)
When installing an application that is multi-tier capable, you will see an additional option on the “Step 2” portion of the configurator.
(see below)
You may select either Single tier or Multi tier for your installation and then move on to the hosting details.
Next, you’ll select the number of tiers you want to provsion.
Step 3 displays your summary monthly fees.
Accepting the fees begins the provisioning of the servers, as shown below.
Once your servers have spun up, the application will install and you will be ready to launch your app.
There are some differences in functionality between single and multi-tier server installs.
Supported functionality from the admin console:
- Install
